Design Knowledge

PROJECT
INSIGHTS.

Space planning and furniture layout

Before any material or colour is decided, we plan the layout. Where does the sofa face? Is there enough clearance for movement? Does the TV wall anchor the room or compete with the window? Good space planning makes a room feel bigger and more comfortable than any expensive material can.

TV unit and storage wall

The TV wall is typically the largest vertical surface in a living room. We design it as a full unit - storage, display, and TV panel integrated - rather than a TV bracket with shelves around it. Material and finish choices here have an outsized effect on the feel of the room.

False ceiling and POP design

A POP false ceiling in the living room is one of the most effective design moves in an Ahmedabad home. It defines zones, hides electrical conduit, and allows for recessed and cove lighting that transforms the mood of the room in the evening. We design living room false ceiling as part of the overall room plan - not as a separate afterthought.

Common ceiling treatments we do: Gypsum board with recessed downlights. POP cornice with cove lighting. Wooden batten ceiling for a warmer feel. Combination of flat and dropped sections to define the seating and dining zones.

Lighting design

Ambient lighting for the whole room, task lighting for reading corners, and accent lighting for artwork or display - a living room needs all three working together. Most homes in Ahmedabad use only ambient lighting and then wonder why the room feels flat in the evening. We plan lighting in layers, matched to how you actually use the space.

Wall treatments

Paint, wallpaper, textured plaster, stone cladding, or wooden panel - the back wall behind the sofa or the wall behind the TV is often where a living room design either works or fails. We discuss wall treatment options during the design phase and show them in 3D before committing.

Drawing room considerations

In many Ahmedabad homes, the drawing room and living room are the same space - or adjacent. If you have a separate drawing room for guests, we design it with a slightly more formal character while keeping it consistent with the rest of the home.

Clarifications

FREQUENTLY
ASKED.

What is the cost of living room interior design in Ahmedabad?
The cost of designing a living room in Ahmedabad as part of a full home project typically ranges from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh depending on size, ceiling design, TV unit complexity, and materials. This covers space planning, TV wall, false ceiling, lighting, and paint or wallpaper. A standalone living room project will be quoted separately after a site visit.
What is the difference between a living room and drawing room in interior design?
In Indian homes, a drawing room typically refers to the formal space near the entrance used for receiving guests, while the living room is the informal family space. In most modern Ahmedabad flats, both functions are combined in one open space. We design the combined space to work for both - a formal zone near the entrance and a relaxed family zone further in, connected by a consistent design language.
Which false ceiling design is best for a living room in Ahmedabad?
For most living rooms in Ahmedabad, a gypsum board false ceiling with recessed LED downlights and a perimeter cove for indirect lighting is the most practical and widely used option. It looks clean, allows for good lighting design, and is easier to repair than POP if there is ever water damage from the floor above. POP cornices and decorative plaster work are also popular for more traditional or classic interiors.
How do you make a small living room feel bigger?
The most effective ways: light-coloured walls and ceiling, full-height storage units that draw the eye upward, furniture scaled to the room rather than oversized pieces, mirrors on one wall to double perceived depth, and uncluttered floor space. We plan small living rooms with storage designed into the architecture so there is nowhere for clutter to collect.
Do you design just the living room, or is it part of the full home?
We design living rooms as part of complete home projects. The living room design sets the tone for the rest of the home - the materials, colours, and style direction we establish here carry through to the bedrooms and kitchen. Designing rooms in isolation often leads to homes that feel inconsistent.
